Na het succes van de eerste editie van Sophie Straat's Protestfest in 2023 keert de Amsterdamse volkszangeres in 2024 terug naar Paradiso voor Protestfest II. De opbrengst van het festival, wat plaatsvindt in alle zalen van Paradiso, wordt volledig gedoneerd aan Palestina. Protestfest II omvat niet alleen haar eigen optreden, maar ook bijdragen van verschillende gastsprekers en -artiesten.

Sophie Straat
De Amsterdamse protestzangeres Sophie Straat bracht in 2023 debuutplaat 'Smartlap Is Niet Dood' uit; een album vol eigentijdse, geëngageerde smartlappen. Sophie bezingt sociaal maatschappelijke problematiek en thema’s als seksisme, racisme, ongelijkheid en machtsmisbruik. Van straatintimidatie tot mansplaining en de vertrutting van de stad.

Tijdschema
Het tijdschema wordt op de avond zelf bekendgemaakt in Paradiso.

Tattoo's
In de kelder kun je tattoo's laten zetten door tattooartiest Mvttys.

Presentatie
De presentatie van het festival is in handen van Lotte van Eijk.

De volledige opbrengst van Protestfest II wordt gedoneerd Stichting Plant een Olijfboom. De stichting biedt ondersteuning aan mensen in nood in Gaza, met o.a. voedsel, kleding, dekens en medische hulp.

During Protestfest 2, you can head to the basement for soup with bread. This evening's menu:

Indian lentil soup with coconut milk and naan
Moroccan lentil soup with fresh vegetables and flatbread
Extras: hummus, raita, and raw vegetables

How to get to Paradiso

Paradiso is on the Weteringschans 6-8 in Amsterdam. That is very close to Leidseplein. From every part of the city there are trams heading towards Leidseplein. From there on out you can walk to Paradiso. Free and secured underground bike parking is available on the opposite side of Paradiso. Travelling by car is difficult, since there are only a few busy parking lots nearby.
