Super-Sonic Jazz
Talent development platform Super-Sonic Jazz was founded in 2016 in Amsterdam as a series of concerts and club nights at the iconic Paradiso venue to provide a stage for the new wave of contemporary jazz musicians. A little later an annual festival and the launch of the independent record label called Super-Sonic Jazz Records followed.
With experimental programming that blends traditional jazz with contemporary genres such as hip-hop, neo-soul, R&B and electronic music, Super-Sonic Jazz pushes the boundaries of what jazz culture means to listeners, enthusiasts and artists alike.
About us
Super-Sonic Jazz is an Amsterdam-based non-profit platform for exciting artists who move within the universe of jazz. We release music on our independent record label, and in collaboration with Paradiso, we organize concerts, jams, and the annual Super-Sonic Jazz Festival.
Festival
Since 2017, the Super-Sonic Jazz Festival has been a prominent fixture in Amsterdam's cultural landscape, offering a diverse lineup of groundbreaking Dutch and international acts. Held across various venues in Amsterdam, including historic churches, our festival provides a unique platform for intimate performances and uninhibited improvisation, bridging the gap between global and local talent.
Past editions of the festival have featured electrifying performances by renowned artists such as Ezra Collective, Kiefer, Bilal, 30/70, MonoNeon, and KOKOROKO, captivating audiences with their boundary-pushing music.

Super-Sonic Jam
Launched in March 2024, the Super-Sonic Jam is a monthly gathering at Skatecafe in Amsterdam Noord, fostering a vibrant community of musicians and music enthusiasts. Featuring live performances, jam sessions, and networking opportunities, this inclusive event serves as a hub for artistic experimentation and collaboration. Curated by experienced drummer Emmanuel 'Els di Incredible' Afriyie, the Super-Sonic Jam offers a unique space for musicians to showcase their talents, connect with industry professionals, and cultivate new musical projects in an interactive setting.

Label
Super-Sonic Jazz Records operates as a non-profit label committed to spotlighting music from Dutch and international artists. Centered on physical releases, we strive to offer emerging Dutch talents a platform for their music and help them amplify their presence within the jazz community. By investing in these artists this early in their careers, we cultivate ongoing promotion and celebrate the vibrant Dutch music scene.
Movement
It’s our mission to bring together music aficionados and musicians, while disconnecting a little more from our online lives. You can join and support us by becoming a member for €5 per month. In return, you’ll receive an ‘old school’ offline mailing every few months. A short recap on what the Super-Sonic Jazz: The Movement is. For us, it is an expansion on the way we are able to communicate with both artists and audience. A way to stray away from short-lived online marketing and connect directly with members of our community. To create things that will last longer – and in the physical world.
By subscribing, YOU will directly contribute to local jazz talents. One of the, if not the most important, pillar on which the house of Super-Sonic Jazz is built, is enabling young artists to take their first steps. From primary managerial advice to distributing debut albums and giving them a spot between the renowned names on our festival. By continuing your subscription for €5,-, you’re directly adding extra cement to Super-Sonic Jazz’pillar, creating more opportunities for these musicians to put out more music. In return, through this off-line mailing we are able to bring you closer to the artists. Give you pieces of behind-the-scenes footage, early recordings or other insights into the creative process. No artists without an audience – so let’s make it a two-way street!
