Super-Sonic Jazz
Talent development platform Super-Sonic Jazz was founded in 2016 in Amsterdam as a series of concerts and club nights at the iconic Paradiso venue to provide a stage for the new wave of contemporary jazz musicians. A little later an annual festival and the launch of the independent record label called Super-Sonic Jazz Records followed.
With experimental programming that blends traditional jazz with contemporary genres such as hip-hop, neo-soul, R&B and electronic music, Super-Sonic Jazz pushes the boundaries of what jazz culture means to listeners, enthusiasts and artists alike.
About us
Talent development platform Super-Sonic Jazz was founded in 2016 in Amsterdam as a series of concerts and club nights at the iconic Paradiso venue to provide a stage for the new wave of contemporary musicians. We present exciting and innovative artists who move within the universe of jazz.
Initiatives ranging from an annual Festival, Family Album and The Incredible Shrinking Band. With experimental programming that blends traditional jazz with contemporary genres such as hip-hop, neo-soul, R&B and electronic music, Super-Sonic Jazz pushes the boundaries of what jazz culture means to listeners, enthusiasts and artists alike.
There is no more space for talented artists to perform in Amsterdam. We shrink bands to a tiny size to play a tiny live session in the tiniest house next to Paradiso. ‘Cause what do you do when it’s impossible for music creatives to live and thrive in Amsterdam, when all space is taken up by greed and the cost of living goes up up up? You use every single little tiny space you’ve got, and shrink your dear musicians. Until the love for music in this city grows bigger than the greed that goes around, we need to find different ways to create space for musicians.'
