Patricia Lee Smith werd geboren in 1946 en verhuisde op haar twintigste naar New York om kunstenaar te worden. Ze groeide na de release van haar iconische debuutalbum ‘Horses’ in 1975 uit tot één van de meest invloedrijke artiesten van de afgelopen vijftig jaar.
Als dichter en singer-songwriter smelt Smith op unieke wijze poëzie samen met punkrock. Haar eerste werk 'Horses' gaf het startsein voor de wereldwijde punkrevolutie. Ze speelde een sleutelrol in de muziek- en kunstscene van New York in de jaren '70 en '80 en werd het boegbeeld van de tegencultuur.

Patti Smith en Paradiso hebben een lange gedeelde historie. Smith stond er op 15 mei 1976 voor het eerst op de planken en gaf er in 46 jaar tijd in totaal 16 concerten. Daarnaast was ze onder de vlag van Paradiso ook viermaal te zien in De Duif in Amsterdam. Haar vandaag aangekondigde shows in juli 2024 worden concert nummer 17 en 18 in Paradiso.

How to get to Paradiso
Paradiso is on the Weteringschans 6-8 in Amsterdam. That is very close to Leidseplein. From every part of the city there are trams heading towards Leidseplein. From there on out you can walk to Paradiso. Free and secured underground bike parking is available on the opposite side of Paradiso. Travelling by car is difficult, since there are only a few busy parking lots nearby.Â
