The Cult is een Britse rockband, opgericht in 1983 in Bradford, Noord Engeland. De band wordt gevormd door zanger Ian Astbury en gitarist Billy Duffy, en brak halverwege jaren '80 door in Europa met hun kenmerkende eigen geluid, vol invloeden van post-punk en gothic. Dit is te horen op het veelgeprezen debuutalbum 'Dreamtime' uit 1984 en opvolger 'Love' uit 1985, en hits als 'She Sells Sanctuary' en 'Fire Woman'. In 1987 volgde de grote Amerikaanse doorbraak van The Cult met hun derde album 'Electric', waarop een meer hard rock-georiënteerd geluid te horen is. Na de afgelopen dertig jaar een aantal keer uit elkaar te zijn geweest en vervolgens weer bij elkaar te zijn gekomen, bracht de onvermoeibare band in 2022 langspeler 'Under the Midnight Sun' uit, het elfde studioalbum. Deze zomer geeft de band een concert in de Grote Zaal van Paradiso.

How to get to Paradiso
Paradiso is on the Weteringschans 6-8 in Amsterdam. That is very close to Leidseplein. From every part of the city there are trams heading towards Leidseplein. From there on out you can walk to Paradiso. Free and secured underground bike parking is available on the opposite side of Paradiso. Travelling by car is difficult, since there are only a few busy parking lots nearby.Â
