De Franse indiepopband Phoenix geeft op vrijdag 25 en zaterdag 26 november voor het eerst in ruim negen jaar tijd een concert in Nederland. De vierkoppige band Phoenix uit Versailles, Frankrijk brak door aan het begin van dit millennium met succesalbum ‘United’ en het daaropvolgende ‘Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix’. Nummers als ‘If I Ever Feel Better’, ‘Lisztomania’ en ‘1901’ groeiden uit tot indiepop-evergreens en bracht de band succes wat reikt tot ver buiten de stadsperiferie van Parijs. Phoenix is opvallend populair in de Verenigde Staten: de naam van de band glorieerde groot op de posters van megafestivals als Coachella, Austin City Limits en Lollapalooza. Ook schreef de band mee aan de soundtrack van de recente Sofia Coppola-film ‘On The Rocks’.

Onlangs bracht Phoenix de single 'Alpha Zulu' uit. Het meest recente album van de band genaamd 'Ti Amo' stamt uit 2017. Nederlandse fans van de band moesten de afgelopen jaren reizen naar buurlanden als België, Frankrijk of Engeland om Phoenix in levende lijve te zien tijdens één van hun schaarse wereldtournees. Hier komt in 2022 gelukkig verandering in: in Paradiso speelt Phoenix hun eerste concert op Nederlandse bodem sinds Pinkpop 2013.

How to get to Paradiso

Paradiso is on the Weteringschans 6-8 in Amsterdam. That is very close to Leidseplein. From every part of the city there are trams heading towards Leidseplein. From there on out you can walk to Paradiso. Free and secured underground bike parking is available on the opposite side of Paradiso. Travelling by car is difficult, since there are only a few busy parking lots nearby.
