Het duo Machine Girl, of machin3gir1, bestaat uit zanger en producer Matt Stephenson en drummer Sean Kelly. Sinds de twee elkaar in 2015 in New York vonden, staan ze aan het roer van een DIY muziekbeweging in Noord-Amerika die moeilijk in een hokje past maar zich ergens op de grenzen van punk, noise, techno en rap bevindt. Zelf omschrijven ze hun muziek als ‘digital hardcore’ en ‘fucked-up electronic punk’.
Vernoemd naar Japanse gore movie 'The Machine Girl', schuwt ook het stel zelf een beetje bloedvergieten niet. In hun muziek reflecteren ze op thema’s als geweld, surrealisme, angst en chaos en zoeken ze naar de ultieme catharsis: een resetknop voor de huidige realiteit. Niet voor niets staat Machine Girl bekend om hun rauwe en onvoorspelbare liveshows, waar mosh pit en gabber rave elkaar vrolijk de hand schudden.

How to get to Tolhuistuin
Tolhuistuin (formerly Paradiso Noord) is located at IJpromenade 2 in Amsterdam North. A free ferry is departing from Amsterdam Central Station to Buiksloterweg. Turn left and you’ll walk into Tolhuistuin. For club nights, the rear entrance is used (Buiksloterweg 5C), which can be reached via the Overhoeksplein. Restaurant THT serves an extensive menu for any music lover – making a reservation is recommended.
