The concert of Gyedu-Blay Ambolley & his Sekondi band has been moved from April 12, 2020, May 16, 2021 and February 3, 2022 to October 22, 2022. Tickets purchased for the previous three dates are also valid for the new date. Ticket buyers will receive an email with more information.

De ‘James Brown van Ghana’, zo wordt Gyedu-Blay Ambolley ook wel genoemd. Met zijn volvette afrofunk geluid, dat hij simigwa-do noemde, brak hij in 1973 door in de Ghanese muziekscene. Zijn funky, jazzy en soulvolle benadering van highlife sloeg in als een bom. In de zestiger jaren speelde hij in de Uhuru Dance Band, en leerde onder meer van Ebo Taylor. Met Taylor richtte hij in 1974 The Apagya Show Band op. Inmiddels zijn we ruim 40 jaar en 30 albums verder en is Ambolley een levende legende. Niet voor niets duikt zijn muziek op op veel hippe re-issues, van iets obscuurder als Afrodisiac tot labels als Soundway en Analog Africa. Begin 2019 deed hij met zijn eerste Europese tour al Paradiso Noord aan, nu is hij met zijn Sekondi Band terug voor weer een avond vol groovy afrofunk en highlife.

Ticket to the Tropics-pas 2020

Dit programma is toegankelijk met de Ticket to the Tropics-pas 2020.

Pashouders moeten een vrijkaart bestellen via een speciale ticketlink die ze per e-mail ontvangen, na activatie van de pas. Als je de pas hebt gekocht, krijg je deze binnen 10 werkdagen thuisgestuurd per post. Entree is alleen op vertoon van vrijkaart EN Ticket to the Tropics-pas 2020. Voor sommige programma's is een beperkt aantal vrijkaarten beschikbaar.

Vanwege corona is de pas geldig t/m 31 december 2021.

How to get to Tolhuistuin

Tolhuistuin (formerly Paradiso Noord) is located at IJpromenade 2 in Amsterdam North. A free ferry runs from Amsterdam Central Station to Buiksloterweg. From there, turn left and you’ll walk straight into Tolhuistuin. For club nights, the rear entrance (Buiksloterweg 5C) is used. This entrance can be reached via Overhoeksplein

Restaurant
Tolhuistuin also has a restaurant where you can enjoy a meal before the show. We recommend making a reservation in advance via this website.
