We know… all this back and forth… we’re bummed too :( It would’ve been such a huge vibe to come together next month. And we hoped it wouldn’t have to get to another cancellation, but these are some rocky times. And unfortunately, that has some effect on live events.

Instead of postponing the event again, we have chosen to cancel definitively, so you know exactly what’s up with your tickets. And once the coast is clear for us to host a poetry night again, we can do it fresh – and with clarity.

We weten het… al dat heen en weer… wij balen er ook van :( Het zou zo een vibe zijn geweest om weer samen te komen volgende maand. En we hoopten dat het niet tot nog een annulering zou komen, maar dit zijn roerige tijden. En helaas heeft dat effect op live evenementen.

In plaats van het event weer te verplaatsen, hebben we ervoor gekozen definitief te annuleren, zodat jij precies weet hoe het met je tickets zit. Én kunnen wij met een frisse én duidelijke start de volgende poetry night hosten, zodra de kust weer veilig is voor ons.

It’s We The People…’s 2 year anniversary! And we’re inviting you to celebrate with us at this 2nd edition of We The People… Poetry Night at Paradiso. Enjoy the rhythms of a live (afro-)jazz fusion band and, as always, a lineup of diverse word artists eager to share what’s on their hearts & minds.

We The People...

We The People… is for the people. We who want to create, feel, express and share, but find little resonance in the mainstream. We believe that art should be democratic and that the power of expression lies in the diversity of it. Yet we are surrounded by so many creative & expressive young individuals from many different backgrounds whose voices are underrepresented in the Dutch art scene. So we decided we needed to create a platform where we could claim our space and manifest as a community. A home to everyone, and a safe space specifically for youths of color, with all of their complex identities. We create and host cultural & creative events that build on the mindset behind the platform itself. Our first and most recurring event is We The People… Poetry Night. Our poetry nights are warm, safe and approachable gatherings with all the right ingredients. We welcome love, respect, good vibes and positive vibrations. We hope to see you around!

How to get to Paradiso

Paradiso is on the Weteringschans 6-8 in Amsterdam. That is very close to Leidseplein. From every part of the city there are trams heading towards Leidseplein. From there on out you can walk to Paradiso. Free and secured underground bike parking is available on the opposite side of Paradiso. Travelling by car is difficult, since there are only a few busy parking lots nearby.
