Toots and The Maytals uit Jamaica werd in de jaren zestig bekend door hun vernieuwende mix van ska en rocksteady reggae, met de soulvolle, haast Otis Redding-achtige stem van Toots. Dankzij de punkrevolutie in Engeland aan het eind van de jaren zeventig, bands als The Specials en The Clash coverden Toots and the Maytals, kreeg de band ook in het buitenland voet aan de grond. Helaas viel kort daarna het doek voor Toots and The Maytals maar maakte in de jaren negentig een sterke comeback om tot op de dag van vandaag relevant te blijven. Hits als Funky Kingston, Broadway Jungle, Pressure Drop en Monkey Man zullen deze avond ongetwijfeld voor een feestje zorgen.

How to get to Paradiso

Paradiso is on the Weteringschans 6-8 in Amsterdam. That is very close to Leidseplein. From every part of the city there are trams heading towards Leidseplein. From there on out you can walk to Paradiso. Free and secured underground bike parking is available on the opposite side of Paradiso. Travelling by car is difficult, since there are only a few busy parking lots nearby.
