De Amerikaanse indieband The Magnetic Fields werd opgericht in 1989 in Boston door frontman Stephin Merritt. De band staat bekend om hun mix van synthpop en indierock en hun korte maar gevatte liedjes voorzien van een subtiel laagje humor. Ieder nummer is verrassend op zijn eigen manier, doordat Merritt af en toe afdwaalt naar noise-pop en zeer avontuurlijke folk. Tijdens hun concert in Tolhuistuin in september speelt de band nummers van onder andere hun vroegste albums uit de jaren '90 tot hun iconische driedubbelalbum '69 Love Songs'. Naast frontman Stephin Merritt bestaat de band uit Sam Davol, Shirley Simms, Chris Ewen en Anthony Kaczinski.

How to get to Tolhuistuin

Tolhuistuin (formerly Paradiso Noord) is located at IJpromenade 2 in Amsterdam North. A free ferry is departing from Amsterdam Central Station to Buiksloterweg. Turn left and you’ll walk into Tolhuistuin. For club nights, the rear entrance is used (Buiksloterweg 5C), which can be reached via the Overhoeksplein.

Restaurant
Tolhuistuin also has a restaurant in which you can have a bite before the show. We advise to make a reservation in advance via this website.
