The Breath, bestaande uit de Noord-Ierse zangeres Ríoghnach Connolly en de Engelse gitarist Stuart McCallum (ex-Cinematic Orchestra), geeft hun eigen hedendaagse kijk op alt-folk. Connolly, bekend van Afro Celt Sound System, Honeyfeet, en BBC2 Folk Singer of the Year 2019, schrijft poëtische, persoonlijke teksten met een duidelijke boodschap. Het laatste album, 'Land of My Other', is een combinatie van jazz-soundscapes en klassieke, soulvolle Ierse folk. Geproduceerd door de beroemde componist/pianist Thomas Bartlett, is het een project dat je vanaf het begin bij de nekvel grijpt. De persoonlijke en oprechte nummers gaan zowel over zomers uit de kindertijd en eerste liefdes als over culturele ontwrichting, postkoloniaal onrecht en verdriet. Connolly's diepe, soulvolle stem, die delicaat en tegelijk krachtig is en McCallums gitaarspel zijn samen een gouden duo.

How to get to Tolhuistuin

Tolhuistuin (formerly Paradiso Noord) is located at IJpromenade 2 in Amsterdam North. A free ferry runs from Amsterdam Central Station to Buiksloterweg. From there, turn left and you’ll walk straight into Tolhuistuin. For club nights, the rear entrance (Buiksloterweg 5C) is used. This entrance can be reached via Overhoeksplein

Restaurant
