Protestzangeres Sophie Straat bracht 3 maart haar debuutalbum ‘Smartlap Is Niet Dood’ uit. Op het album wordt het traditionele levenslied waar ze mee doorbrak aangevuld met modernere popmuziek. De albumtour wordt afgesloten in Paradiso met niet zomaar een show, maar een heel festival: Sophie Straat's Protestfest. Op haar album bezingt Sophie Straat sociaal maatschappelijke problematiek en thema’s als seksisme, racisme, ongelijkheid en machtsmisbruik. Van straatintimidatie tot mansplaining en de vertrutting van de stad.

Naast haar eigen optreden, nodigt Sophie verschillende gasten uit zoals Mavi Veloso, Ella John en The House Of Hopelezz. Tevens spreken Devika Partiman (Stem op een Vrouw) en Mieke Megawati (Woonprotest), draait DJ Nèna, is er een gevel-expo van Tina Farifteh en worden Sophie's films vertoond: 'Mijn Club', die ze samen met Hilde Barwegen maakte en haar albumfilm 'Mooier Als Je Lacht' die ze samen met Flo Meijer maakte.

How to get to Paradiso

Paradiso is on the Weteringschans 6-8 in Amsterdam. That is very close to Leidseplein. From every part of the city there are trams heading towards Leidseplein. From there on out you can walk to Paradiso. Free and secured underground bike parking is available on the opposite side of Paradiso. Travelling by car is difficult, since there are only a few busy parking lots nearby.
