De Schotse troubadour Malcolm Middleton excelleert in weemoedige liedjes vol melancholie en zwarte humor. Hij werd bekend door zijn werk met Aidan Moffat in de indierockband Arab Strap, die in 2006 ophield te bestaan, maar hervormde in 2011. De multi-instrumentalist begon vanaf 2002 aan zijn solocarrière te werken, het jaar waarin ook zijn debuut ‘5:14 Fluoxytine Seagull Alcohol John Nicotine’ uitkwam. In de tussentijd heeft Middleton alles behalve stilgezeten en zodoende bracht hij in 2018 alweer zijn tiende album uit. ‘Bananas’ staat vol met vernietigende, maar ook zachtaardige teksten waarmee hij het leven van alledag wederom pijnlijk treffend weet samen te vatten.

How to get to Tolhuistuin

Tolhuistuin (formerly Paradiso Noord) is located at IJpromenade 2 in Amsterdam North. A free ferry is departing from Amsterdam Central Station to Buiksloterweg. Turn left and you’ll walk into Tolhuistuin. For club nights, the rear entrance is used (Buiksloterweg 5C), which can be reached via the Overhoeksplein.

Restaurant
Tolhuistuin also has a restaurant in which you can have a bite before the show. We advise to make a reservation in advance via this website.
