Trompettist Josef Leimberg bouwde al een indrukwekkend cv op voordat hij bekend werd bij een breder publiek dankzij zijn werk op de Grammy winnende plaat ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ van Kendrick Lamar. Begin 2000 werkte Leimberg samen met Busdriver, Freestyle Fellowship en Snoop Dogg. Vanuit daar werd de lijst met albums alleen maar langer. Namen als Erykah Badu's New Amerykah, Pt. 1, Sa-Ra's Nuclear Evolution: The Age of Love, en Shafiq Husayn's Shafiq En' A-Free-Ka. Het was wachten op het album van deze inventieve en progressieve trompettist, en dat kwam er. Met bijdragen van Terrace Martin, Kamasi Washington, Bilal, Jimetta Rose, Georgia Anne Muldrow, en Miguel Atwood-Ferguson is ‘Astral Progressions’ het eerste officiële album van Josef Leimberg. Een progressieve mix van spiritual/cosmic jazz, soul, en hip-hop.

How to get to Tolhuistuin

Tolhuistuin (formerly Paradiso Noord) is located at IJpromenade 2 in Amsterdam North. A free ferry is departing from Amsterdam Central Station to Buiksloterweg. Turn left and you’ll walk into Tolhuistuin. For club nights, the rear entrance is used (Buiksloterweg 5C), which can be reached via the Overhoeksplein.

Restaurant
Tolhuistuin also has a restaurant in which you can have a bite before the show. We advise to make a reservation in advance via this website.
