Harouna Samake wordt beschouwd als een van Mali’s beste kamele n’goni spelers. De kamele n’goni is een snaarinstrument dat lijkt op een kora. Samake speelt al achttien jaren in de band van de levende legende Salif Keita, en werkte mee aan meer dan 50 albums van andere muzikanten als Bassekou Kouyaté, Djessou Mory Kante en Zani Diabaté. Nu is de tijd aangebroken dat Samake zelf in de spotlight komt te staan.

Zijn langverwachte eigen debuutalbum ‘Kamale Blues’ verscheen in de zomer van 2018. Op dat album vloeien zijn fonkelende gitaar - en kamele n’goni spel moeiteloos samen met zijn betoverende stem, en worden beiden voortgestuwd door groovy bas en percussie. Het resultaat is zeer dansbaar. Zijn teksten, voornamelijk gezongen in het Bambara, verhalen over thema’s als immigratie, gender-relaties en mensenrechten.

How to get to Tolhuistuin

Tolhuistuin (formerly Paradiso Noord) is located at IJpromenade 2 in Amsterdam North. A free ferry runs from Amsterdam Central Station to Buiksloterweg. From there, turn left and you’ll walk straight into Tolhuistuin. For club nights, the rear entrance (Buiksloterweg 5C) is used. This entrance can be reached via Overhoeksplein

Restaurant
Tolhuistuin also has a restaurant where you can enjoy a meal before the show. We recommend making a reservation in advance via this website.
