Eurabia was initiated in 2014 by Dutch DJ-collective Cairo Liberation Front. On this club night, they bring Middle-Eastern culture a little closer to the Western world. From Syrian dabke to Egyptian electro-cha3bi and from Anatolian disco to Moroccan bass; their program is always different. In March they’ll host Eurabia for the tenth time, which will be celebrated with some very special guests.

Islam Chipsy & EEK
Islam Chipsy is the Jimi Hendrix of Egypt. The only difference is that Chipsy is a rockstar playing keyboard instead of guitar. Back in 2012 a youtube video popped up from this virtuoso playing a block party in the streets of Cairo, backed up by two insane live drummers playing super groovy marhagranat rhythms. From that moment Eurabia residents Cairo Liberation Front tried to bring Islam Chipsy & EEK to the Netherlands. Now, six years later, that time has finally come! With their heavily percussive and rhythm-based music, yet the band has redefined the possibilities of the holy trinity of dance music: synthesizer, drums and bass.

Mehmet Aslan
Mehmet Aslan is a DJ and producer who grew up in Switzerland and is currently living in Berlin. His close friend Baris K inspired him to embrace his Turkish roots, which is audible in his stunning DJ-sets, filled with the best house, disco, and funk tunes mixed with traditional Turkish folk music. He became well known with his edits for Moscoman’s Disco Halal label and his remixes for amongst others Damien Lazarus, Khidja and Auntie Flo.

Cairo Liberation Front
Cairo Liberation Front (CLF) is the eclectic musical vehicle of Joep Schmitz and Yannick Verhoeven. What impulsively began as two geeky, somewhat naive Dutch devotees of Egyptian electro-cha3bi, blossomed into an infectious musical exchange between artists from both the Middle East and Western Europe. Since their genesis, CLF’s rousing DJ sets and headstrong punk rock ethos earned them worldwide recognition, most notably from The Guardian, the New York Times and The Quietus. After the release of the EP Nymphaea Caerulea, made together with San Francisco-based beatmaker AI Lover, they working currently often together with the Dutch/Iraqi vocalist Bagdaddy, who’ll join CLF also on stage to perform several new songs.

Osdorp Tapes
Since they totally kicked ass during last years edition of Eurabia, they are back! You can hear the guys of Osdorp tapes, Baris Akardere & Jurriaan Pots, regularly on Red Light Radio. With their huge collection filled with cassette tapes, Osdorp Tapes is leading them with the most enchanting music from the former Ottoman empire.

Anadolu Ekspres
Hailing from Rotterdam Anadolu Ekspres is a DJ-crew who’s forwarding the legacy of Turkish music, by releasing multiple mixtapes. On these curious tapes, you’ll hear their finds of rare vinyl, cassettes and lo-fi mp3’s, shifting from Anatolian disco-folk to 90s Turko house, Haley and Turkish psych-folk tracks. For the upcoming edition of Eurabia Anadolu is sending their main guy Cengiz Mengüç, better known as Haylayf DJ, to twist your ears.

Ramses3000
You probably know him as the DJ of Cairo Liberation Front, but tonight Yannick Verhoeven will also rock the DJ-booth by himself, spinning way beyond the musical borders of Egypt and focus on all kinds of lovely danceable non-European tunes.
