Simpele opname-software en een goedkope microfoon vast getaped aan een oude lamp is het enige wat Conan Gray nodig had om met zijn eigen producties een grote fan-base op te bouwen. Geïnspireerd door de muziek van The Dixie Chicks, Adele en Lorde heeft de 20-jarige Amerikaan zijn eigen dromerige popmuziek weten te produceren waar veel generatiegenoten zich in kunnen herkennen. Zijn eerlijke teksten worden gevoed door nostalgie en sentiment en samen met zijn aanstekelijke melodieën brengt hij jong en oud in vervoering.
