Bass Drum of Death

Bass Drum Of Death is het altijd venijnige garagerockproject van John Barrett. De uit Mississippi afkomstige muzikant opereert nu vanuit New York en dit jaar verscheen het vierde album 'Just Business'. Na platen uitgebracht te hebben op de gerenommeerde labels Fat Possum en Innovative Leisure is het nu de beurt aan Red Music Records, waar ook bands als St. Paul & The Broken Bones en Sundara Karma gehuisvest zijn. Het nieuwe materiaal is geïnspireerd door het heftige leven in New York en klinkt meer gepolijst. Zelf zegt Barrett daarover: "For years I’ve been known as ‘The Garage Rock Guy’ and I think this record highlights how much of a better singer and songwriter I’ve gotten to be. You can actually hear what I’m singing! I listened to it the other night, at 3AM, smoking a cigarette and I was just smiling. It made me feel like music is the only thing in the world I feel like I’m excellent at." Verwacht dus veel nieuw materiaal, maar ook 'oude' krakers als 'Crawling After You' en 'Nerve Jamming'.
