Pokey LaFarge klinkt alsof hij al een jaar of tachtig aan de oever van de Mississippi zit te spelen op zijn banjo, met zijn band, die het aanvullen met onder meer gitaar, mondharmonica, viool en bas. Het is bijna niet te geloven dat de aanstekelijke jazz, ragtime, country blues en western swing wordt voortgebracht door de groep jonge mannen met in het midden Pokey LaFarge. Volgens hem: “It’s not retro music. It’s American music that never died.” Zijn nieuwe album heet ‘Something In The Water’.
