Back by dope demand! Are you a dancer or choreographer eager to capture movement on film? Want to enhance your filmmaking skills and explore how dance and cinematic storytelling can come together? Join us for this one-day, hands-on workshop and dive into the art of dance filmmaking, led by two renowned creators: choreographer Karim KH and video director, DOP and editor Steven Elbers.
In this workshop initiated by Summer Dance Forever & Cinedans, you'll explore creative techniques for filming fluid motion, gain insight into the technical side of camera work, and learn how to merge choreography with strong visual storytelling to create compelling dance films. With personal guidance from the two workshop leaders, you’ll develop a concept that reflects your own unique style and artistic voice. Together, we’ll identify the essence of your idea, shape it with compelling visuals, and bring it to life using foundational cinematic tools.
Don’t miss the opportunity to elevate your creative practice and explore the intersection of movement and film!

About Steven Elbers:
Steven Elbers is an audiovisual designer with a strong connection to human interest stories. Based in Amsterdam, he works as an independent filmmaker both shooting and editing all his projects. His artistic practice focuses on independent art projects rooted in movement and dance. Combining a strong technical background with an artistic director’s eye, he is a sought-after collaborator by indie- and documentary filmmakers, choreographers and dancers working with moving images. As a first-generation Dutch citizen from Surinamese descent, Steven is especially interested in making sure that “minorities’ are represented honestly and fairly, and not stereotyped.

About Karim KH:
Karim KH is a choreographer and movement director known for his organic and instinctive approach to creation. His choreography emerges from the core of the characters he works with, drawing directly from their personalities, life stories, and lived experiences. He explores a dynamic interplay of fluid lines and sudden breaks, crafting a physical language that captures attention and stirs deep emotion. His signature style is recognizable through recurring aesthetics and a sharp eye for detail.
“I value spontaneity,” he says, “and encourage personalities to infuse their emotions into every movement — transforming technique into authentic expression.” In Karim’s process, individuality is never lost. Instead, it’s woven into a shared vocabulary of movement — a mosaic that enriches the collective while celebrating the unique imprint of each dancer. Ultimately, he seeks to create a genuine exchange: “a space of freedom, where movement becomes a shared narrative, resonating with the richness of human diversity.”
