Toen Queens Of The Stone Age in 2009 een pauze inlaste voor het Them Crooked Vultures-project van Josh Homme, riep bassist Michael Shuman zijn oude vrienden Zach Dawes en Tyler Parkford bij elkaar. Stuwende popmuziek, geïnspireerd door bands uit de jaren zestig (The Zombies, The Hollies) maar ook bij recentere artiesten zoals Supergrass en Fountains Of Wayne. Josh Homme omschrijft hun geluid als “genuinely psychedelic with huge hooks... After listening to Mini Mansions just once, you won’t be able to get it out of your head."
