Jason Isbell begon zijn carrière bij The Drive By Truckers. Zo’n zes jaar lang deed hij bij deze band veel ervaring op en groeide hij uit tot een begenadigd gitarist, zanger en songschrijver. In 2007 vond hij het tijd om zijn vleugels uit te slaan en als soloartiest verder te gaan. Het resultaat was het veel geprezen debuutalbum ‘Sirens Of The Ditch’. Dit jaar kwam zijn tweede album ‘Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit’ uit en heeft hij weer een band om zich heen verzameld. Door de rauwe mix van swampblues, northern soul, rock en country is de muziek van Jason Isbell even afwisselend als indrukwekkend.
