This program is part of Summer Dance Forever — an international hip-hop dance festival that brings together dancers and dance lovers from around the world for a week-long celebration. The festival showcases a wide variety of dance performances, next-level battles, soulful club nights, and energizing workshops to refresh and boost your skills. Summer Dance Forever takes place from 19–25 August at Paradiso, ITA, and DeLaMar, with a free program at Melkweg and Vondelpark Openluchttheater, and workshops at ATD and Foundation. Programma half zittend, half staand

The HipHop Games are usually a preliminary round of an international dance competition, where prize money can be won to create a new performance. This year, we’re again presenting the Hip Hop Games Exhibition, where it’s all about the glory and the show! In this unique, playful, and interactive format, top international dancers and performers take on the legendary Hip Hop Games challenges using dance, objects, and music in a fully improvised show. The audience is treated to an afternoon full of thrilling and unexpected performances.

RISE UP Winners: The Clique

Simply Stories, led by artistic director Susanne Tuny, organized the unique and innovative hiphop crew competition RISE UP this spring, where hiphop crews were invited to tell their stories in a professional theater setting. What's your story, what drives you, and how could you express your story through hiphop dance?

Not a standard crew competition, but a journey consisting of a preliminary round, masterclasses and a final. A talent development program for hiphop crews aiming to move more towards performing arts, with masterclasses and coaching in Choreography & Staging, Lighting Design & Set, and Dramaturgy & Storytelling.

Hiphop crew The Clique won the first edition of RISE UP. Their story is about a love forbidden by society, where passion meets rejection and will perform during the Hip Hop Games Exhibition. The next edition of RISE UP will be held in Winter 2026, with registrations open from 1 September 2025:
