Het experimentele Australische viertal Hiatus Kaiyote komt voor het eerst sinds vier jaar weer naar Nederland. De eigenzinnige band maakt future soul met invloeden van dub, funk en hiphop met bijzondere soundscapes en  poëtische teksten. Het viertal, allen afkomstig uit Melbourne, wordt geleid door de vrolijke frontvrouw Nai Palm, werd zowel met hun debuutalbum ‘Toma Tomahawk’ uit 2013 als opvolger ‘Choose Your Weapon’ uit 2015 genomineerd voor een Grammy en mag daarnaast bovendien iconische artiesten als Erykah Badu, Anderson .Paak en zelfs Prince tot hun fans rekenen.

The experimental Australian four-piece Hiatus Kaiyote returns to the Netherlands for the first time in four years. This truly unique band plays future soul infused with dub, funk and hip hop with extraordinary soundscapes and poetic lyrics. The band, which is fronted by the eccentric front woman Nai Palm, got nominated for a Grammy with both their debut album 'Toma Tomahawk'  (2013) and follow-up 'Choose Your Weapon'  (2015), and can count iconic artists such as like Erykah Badu, Anderson .Paak and even the late Prince among their fans.

VOORPROGRAMMA: CLEVER AUSTIN (BEAT SET)
Clever Austin is de solo-artiestennaam van de Australische multi-instrumentalist Perrin Moss, die bekend werd als percussionist, producer en medeoprichter van Hiatus Kaiyote. Op 17-jarige leeftijd begon hij met het draaien, mixen en programmeren van zijn eigen beat tracks. Een paar jaar later verruilde hij de draaitafels voor een drumkit en stond hij aan de basis van de oprichting van Hiatus Kaiyote. In 2019 ging hij echter terug naar zijn roots en bracht hij onder de naam Clever Austin zijn goed ontvangen debuutalbum ‘Pareidolia’ uit. Voorafgaand aan het concert van Hiatus Kaiyote op Super-Sonic Jazz Festival, zal hij met een bijzondere beat set het voorprogramma verzorgen.

Clever Austin is the solo stage name of Australian multi-instrumentalist Perrin Moss, who became known as percussionist, producer and co-founder of Hiatus Kaiyote. At the age of 17 he started playing, mixing and programming his own beat tracks. A few years later he exchanged the turntables for a drum kit and founded Hiatus Kaiyote. In 2019, however, he returned to his roots and released his well-received debut album "Pareidolia" under the name Clever Austin. Prior to the Hiatus Kaiyote concert at Super-Sonic Jazz Festival, he will play as the supporting act with a special beat set.
