Samba doido is Portuguese for crazy samba and that’s exactly the genre Azymuth specializes in. The legendary Brazilian jazz-funk trio formed in 1973; the original band members were the late Jose Roberto Bertrami, Alex Malheiros and Ivan Conti. Pianist virtuoso Fernando Moraes nowadays joins Malheiros and Conti to keep the Música Popular Brasileira flame alive. Expect a brew of lush guitar fuzz, tripped out space-funk and psychedelic jazz soundscapes from Brazil’s original samba rebels.

Tony Allen (live with band), 21.15 - 22.15 uur

Legend alert! In the late sixties, Tony Allen cofounded afrobeat, playing alongside Fela Kuti in the regular lineup of Fela's legendary band, Africa 70. Allen combined funk, jazz, highlife, and Nigerian percussion to revolutionize drumming, and to this day he’s still one of the very, very best. And for Dekmantel Festival, he’s bringing his band.

Matias Aguayo & The Desdemonas, 01.45 - 02.45 uur

Cómeme’s spearhead is coming to Dekmantel Festival and he’s bringing his band. The music of Matias Aguayo is inspired by the caliente-tinged groove courtesy of Latin America, Kompakt fueled neotrance and fuzzy oddball electronics. In his songs, other-worldly sounds and vocals intertwine to a hypnotic effect. Producer, singer, percussionist, record label owner: Aguayo is a man of many talents, but when The Desdemonas (Matteo Scrimali on drums, Henning Specht on keys and Gregorio Gomez on guitar) back him up you are up for a real snake dance treat.
