Schrijver, dichter en muzikant
Anthony Joseph is geboren in Trinidad, maar verhuisde als jonge twintiger in
1989 naar London. Daar groeide hij uit tot een van de belangrijkste
woordvoerders van een nieuwe Brits-Afrikaanse generatie. Nadat hij al veel
gepubliceerd had en vaak op het podium stond als spoken-word-artiest, besloot
hij samen met de Spasm Band zijn intellectuele ideeën muzikaal vorm te geven. De
uitkomst hiervan is ‘liquid textology’ zoals Anthony Joseph het noemt.
Opwindende jazz met Afrikaanse en Caribische percussieve ritmes, funky
baslijnen, scherpe blazers en de intrigerende vocalen van Anthony Joseph. In
2007 bracht hij zijn debuutalbum ‘Leggio De Lion’ uit en dit jaar kwam hij met
zijn tweede album: ‘Bird Head Son’.
