Pride in Paradiso: dit valt er te beleven

Pride Amsterdam lasts nine days and takes place from July 30 to August 7, 2022. During the Pride about three hundred events will take place, there is something for everyone and every community is thought of. People from all over the world come to Amsterdam to experience this unique pride.

Pride = protest
The very first Gay Pride was held in New York in 1970 and was a demonstration in response to the Stonewall Riots, which took place in the Greenwich Village neighborhood on June 28, 1969. Despite its name, the Amsterdam Pride has a different origin than many Gay Prides elsewhere in the world. Those often commemorate the Stonewall riots mentioned above, but in the Netherlands that tradition is kept alive with a different event, Pink Saturday. To this day, Pride is a fight against the discrimination and exclusion that LGBTQIA+ people face every day.

Pride Amsterdam kicks off with Milkshake Festival, an open-minded dance festival in Amsterdam's Westerpark with 9 stages full of (inter)national artists and performances. With something for everyone, from house and disco to techno and R&B, urban and dancehall, at Milkshake everyone can be themselves. After 2 years of absence, the festival is back stronger than ever: all tickets for Milkshake were sold out in no time.

FemaleXposition is an exhibition by fxmale artists with their own view on womxn, expressed in various media. This exhibition focuses on the position of womxn in this world and the beauty that results from it. An open and friendly place to meet, drink good coffee and look at the world from a femaleXposition.

Totally presents: a Drag 'A' Snack Pride Party! Shake your butt while being surrounded by fabulous queens, DJs & drag shows to get you dangerously in the mood to dance, dance, dance! We also have a first during this event: the first live performance of Mason & The Masonettes.

On Saturday August 6 we celebrate the second edition of the Colourful Pride Garden Fest in the lovely Garden of the Tolhuistuin. We start the evening at 18:00 with Queer Stand Up Comedy and we end the night at the Colourful Pride After Party in Club Tolhuistuin from 22:00 till late. A day on which we come together, listen to each other, laugh together, find and celebrate love. A day on which we celebrate BIPoC Queer Joy! You are very welcome to enjoy this beautiful day with us.

After a day of strutting through the canals, dancing along the quay and celebrating our freedom, Paradiso opens its doors for the official FPQ Pride Party. Put on your bold shoes, put on your glad-rags & shimmy on down to the venue. Need I say more?

Our friends from Rapido return to Paradiso to close out Pride Amsterdam with an eleven(!) hour long party. The DJ lineup this edition consists of Abel, Hansom, Ivan Gomez, Migg Z, Nacho Chapado and Saeed Ali. To all the lucky people who managed to get a ticket: have fun!
