Vandaag vertelt Ryan Harris over de meest uitdagende aspecten van zijn carrière, het verhaal achter zijn laatste album en de 2 dingen op zijn bucketlist.

What was the point in your life that made you decide to pursue a career in music?
I've been a full-time filmmaker for 14+ years. In 2021 I made a song for one of my films, and some people actually liked it! At that point I thought I would make some more music from my bedroom, just as a hobby. Over the last 4 years this fan base grew naturally and allowed me to go all-in on music which is a dream.
Can you tell us about the most challenging period in your career and how you overcame it?
The most challenging part is still ahead probably. So far the hardest part has been being my own financier, manager, booking agent, producer, mixer, and writer all at once haha. I have enjoyed almost ever second of it and kept my expectations to a minimum.
Which artists have influenced you the most in your creative process?
Ben Howard, Jack Johnson, Zach Bryan.
What is the story behind your latest album?
I live in a valley surrounded by huge mountains, 12,000 people or so. The latest songs are mostly about my love for this place and so are the images.
How do you deal with creative blocks or moments of doubt in your work?
Consistency. I show up everyday even when I don't want to because I remind myself I have the best job in the world.
What's your favorite childhood memory?
Wasting our days away at the lakes here in Canada.
What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?
Momentum is everything, keep on moving and don’t get hung up on the past!
What are two things still on your bucket list?
- Headline a show the Main Hall at Paradiso Amsterdam!
- Surf in Lombok, Indonesia!
