Word Up x Unwanted Words

Join Word Up Amsterdam for a cozy evening of spoken word on Tuesday, September 24th in DIP (Tuesdays in Paradiso). The evening is celebrating Word Up's partnership with the Stichting Unwanted Words Project and will feature an amazing line up of international and local artists, as well as an open mic session for anyone who feels inspired to share some words.

In addition to the performances, Word Up Amsterdam is a place for creatives and enthusiasts to come together as a community and connect.

The theme for this edition of Word Up is WANTED - exploring the profound topics of belonging and a sense of freedom. Through diverse voices and perspectives, we delve into the intricate balance between the human desire to be part of a community and the individual quest for personal freedom. WANTED edition invites you to reflect on these universal experiences, offering a platform to express and share stories that resonate with our shared and unique journeys.

About Word Up:
Word Up Amsterdam is a platform and a community that promotes social inclusion and diversity through spoken word poetry and creativity.
Launched in 2015, Word Up unites people, passionate about creative self-expression and encourages them to engage with the world around them, and use spoken word poetry as an instrument through which they can explore and better understand their culture, their society, and ultimately, themselves.

About Unwanted Words: 
Stichting Unwanted Words Project is an award-winning platform for up-and-coming LGBTQ+ poets and Spoken Word artists in the Netherlands. It’s an intersectional collective working with a team of queer and non-binary BIPOC, Black, immigrants people. We celebrate queer talent by creating opportunities and spaces for self-expression, community gathering and LGBTQ+ storytelling. Our motto: Be safe, be queer and take care of each other.
