Indierockquintet The Rubens schoot in 2012 uit de startblokken met een melodisch en soulvol debuut waarmee ze in rap tempo vele luisteraars voor zich wonnen. Gevolg: ‘The Rubens’ werd bekroond met een platina-status in thuisland Australië. De band rondom de drie broers (Zaac, Sam en Elliott Margin) en twee vrienden van de middelbare school (Scott Baldwin en William Zeglis) zetten in 2015 het groeiende succes onvermoeid door met opvolger ‘Hoops’. In de hoogtijdagen van laatstgenoemde plaat schreven de bandleden nieuwe singles voor het meest recente album ‘LO LA RU’, waarvan een groot deel door het producersduo achter Run The Jewels werd geproduceerd.
