The Phoenix Foundation is in thuisland Nieuw-Zeeland een bekende naam. De band bracht in 2003 het debuutalbum ‘Horsepower’ uit en sindsdien is de ster van The Phoenix Foundation rijzende. Hun tweede album ‘Pegasus’ werd in 2005 uitgebracht en behaalde in Nieuw Zeeland de gouden status en zorgde voor de definitieve doorbraak. Nu, is er het vierde album ‘Buffalo’ en is The Phoenix Foundation van plan de rest van de wereld te veroveren met hun swingende indiepop, die gekenmerkt wordt door Beach Boys-achtige samenzang en haast hypnotiserende melodieën.
