The Afro-European Sessions is an invitation to explore the rich and complex Afro-European experience. How do you create a sense of home while balancing two cultures? This is the central question posed by the new VPRO documentary series The Afro-European, which also shapes the multidisciplinary program of this event.
Join us for an inspiring evening of interactive talks, film, art, a bookstore, music and food, curated by OSCAM, Omek, Bijlmer Bookstore and VPRO.
Programme:
18:00 – Doors open
Come early to visit the exhibition curated by OSCAM, check the book corner curated by Bijlmer Bookstore, enjoy delicious Nigerian food by Obalade and connect with other attendees.
19:00 – Chapter 1: Stories of Home
Panel discussion and Q&A with Nigerian-British-Dutch and host of the Afro-European series Ikenna Azuike, Caribbean-Dutch film director Soraya Pol. Moderated by Rwandan-Dutch author Munganyende. And a special performance to be announced soon.

How to get to Paradiso
Paradiso is on the Weteringschans 6-8 in Amsterdam. That is very close to Leidseplein. From every part of the city there are trams heading towards Leidseplein. From there on out you can walk to Paradiso. Free and secured underground bike parking is available on the opposite side of Paradiso. Travelling by car is difficult, since there are only a few busy parking lots nearby.
