Neil Halstead en Rachel Goswell startten in 1989 de band Slowdive tussen het studeren door. Ze vonden hun schoolband in het begin vooral een degelijke kloon van My Bloody Valentine en Sonic Youth, maar ondertussen wordt Slowdive in één adem genoemd met deze shoegaze-helden als het gaat om invloedrijke artiesten in het genre.

In 2014 kwam Slowdive na negentien jaar afwezigheid terug op het podium en in 2017 verscheen het eerste nieuwe album sinds 1995, getiteld ‘Slowdive’. Nu, zes jaar na deze monumentale plaat, keert Slowdive terug met 'everything is alive'. Halstead experimenteerde met modulaire synths en zag het oorspronkelijk als een ‘minimale elektronische plaat’ voor zich. De collectieve besluitvorming van Slowdive trok de groep uiteindelijk terug naar hun kenmerkende, met galm doordrenkte gitaren, waarvan het eerste concept doorsijpelt in de composities.

How to get to Paradiso

Paradiso is on the Weteringschans 6-8 in Amsterdam. That is very close to Leidseplein. From every part of the city there are trams heading towards Leidseplein. From there on out you can walk to Paradiso. Free and secured underground bike parking is available on the opposite side of Paradiso. Travelling by car is difficult, since there are only a few busy parking lots nearby.
