The Tapes
The Tapes, hoofdact van de avond, waren een Nederlandse New Wave band, gevormd in 1977 door Rietveld studenten Rolf en Fred Hermsen, Mick Brandes, Igor Roovers en Dick van der Vaart.
De band repeteerde in de kelder van de Paradiso, waardoor ze zich daar al gauw op de planken bevonden. In 1978 brengen ze hun eerste LP, You Just Can’t Sleep, uit op Nederlands platen label Plurex. Waar Minny Pops en Ze Popes ook onderdeel van waren.
In 1978 Speelt de band het het voorprogramma van Talking Heads in Paradiso.
How to get to Paradiso
Paradiso is on the Weteringschans 6-8 in Amsterdam. That is very close to Leidseplein. From every part of the city there are trams heading towards Leidseplein. From there on out you can walk to Paradiso. Free and secured underground bike parking is available on the opposite side of Paradiso. Travelling by car is difficult, since there are only a few busy parking lots nearby.
