De Japans-Canadese artieste Saya Gray heeft een unieke gave om een collage van geluiden te creëren die zowel troostend als desoriënterend aanvoelen, groots maar toch intiem. Haar muziek is een experimentele mix van alternatieve r&b, lo-fi, jazz, indie en elektronica, gekenmerkt door gelaagde producties en intieme teksten. Ze combineert zachte vocalen met onvoorspelbare ritmische structuren en soundscapes, waardoor haar nummers een bijna collage-achtige kwaliteit krijgen.

Haar eerdere releases, '19MASTERS' (2022), 'QWERTY I' (2023) en 'QWERTY II' (2024), zijn ontstaan in periodes van intense isolatie. Zoals Saya zelf zegt, stopt ze ‘1000 persoonlijkheden in één nummer’. Het is deze ongefilterde, hectische benadering van haar kunst die ze nodig acht om haar gevoel van zelf in een constant veranderende wereld terug te winnen – en die haar tegelijkertijd tot een van de meest spannende, opkomende muzikanten van dit moment maakt.

2025 belooft een belangrijk jaar te worden voor Saya, waarin ze de release voorbereidt van haar debuutalbum SAYA – naar eigen zeggen haar meest persoonlijke en intieme project tot nu toe.

How to get to Tolhuistuin

Tolhuistuin (formerly Paradiso Noord) is located at IJpromenade 2 in Amsterdam North. A free ferry runs from Amsterdam Central Station to Buiksloterweg. From there, turn left and you’ll walk straight into Tolhuistuin. For club nights, the rear entrance (Buiksloterweg 5C) is used. This entrance can be reached via Overhoeksplein

Restaurant
Tolhuistuin also has a restaurant where you can enjoy a meal before the show. We recommend making a reservation in advance via this website.
