Sam Baker uit Itasca, Texas kreeg zijn liefde voor muziek met de paplepel ingegoten. Zijn moeder speelde orgel in de kerk en zijn vader luisterde naar blueslegendes als Lightnin’ Hopkins, Brownie McGee en Sonny Terry. Zijn rasperige, bijna gesproken stijl van zingen is karakteristiek. De poëtische, zorgvuldige verwoorde observering over schoonheid, complexiteit en tragedies hebben grote raakvlakken met Texaanse collega’s als Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark en John Prine.

Zonnehuis is on Zonneplein 30a in Amsterdam North. Parking is free around this monumental building. The closest ferry to Zonnehuis is the NDSM-werf ferry. From there you can take a cab or bicycle, both getting you to the venue in about 10 minutes.
