'Property of No One' is organizing a multi-room trip to the heart of a booming music scene: the Mashreq (Arab Middle-East). The festival experience is taking place in the Tolhuistuin, decorating its spaces with a multi-disciplinary lineup of musical performances, talks, workshops and a curated market. Expect a gaze into the eyes of a creative scene blossoming in the face of adversity. Let’s go beyond surface-level consumption and experience the stories behind the music and art. We invite you to set aside your own perspective for a moment and explore something new together.

These guest articles is written by Property of No One, a project devoted to looking beyond the surface of Middle Eastern presence in Europe. Instead of reducing the region to familiar stereotypes like snack bars or protest headlines, they delve into its depth, complexity, and creative spirit. This series was created in collaboration with the festival, unfolding in three phases and shaped by a shared ethos. Through interviews with artists from this year’s lineup, it offers a vivid and personal look at cultural identity through the eyes of Mashreqi creators.

How to get to Tolhuistuin

Tolhuistuin (formerly Paradiso Noord) is located at IJpromenade 2 in Amsterdam North. A free ferry is departing from Amsterdam Central Station to Buiksloterweg. Turn left and you’ll walk into Tolhuistuin. For club nights, the rear entrance is used (Buiksloterweg 5C), which can be reached via the Overhoeksplein.

Restaurant
Tolhuistuin also has a restaurant in which you can have a bite before the show. We advise to make a reservation in advance via this website.
