Pokey LaFarge klinkt alsof hij al een jaar of tachtig aan de oever van de Mississippi zit te spelen. Eenzelfde soort ongeloof als bij Mayor Hawthorne, die geen soulvolle Afro-Amerikaan, maar een bebrilde, nerderige bleekscheet bleek te zijn, doet hier zijn intrede: Aanstekelijke jazz, ragtime, country blues en western swing.
