Sonic Acts Biennial 2024: Opening

Get ready – on Friday 2 February at 7:00 pm, the official opening of both the 2024 Biennial as well as the W139 part of the Biennial exhibition will take place.

The exhibition of the Sonic Acts Biënnale 2024: The Spell of the Sensuous is spread across two locations in Amsterdam: W139 and Looiersgracht 60. During the Biennial opening between 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm, you can visit the W139 part of the Biennial exhibition for free, with two performances by Brackish Collective.

At W139, the works of Pedro Matias, Sasha Litvintseva en Beny Wagner, Annika Kappner, Jota Mombaça, Harun Morrison, touche-touche, and Brackish Collective try to feel, together with a multiplicity of bodies, a connection to an ever-expanding community of beings and things. Centring the role of intuition, the artists evoke speculative communication technologies, (micro)bodily-landscapes, and matriarchal Indigenous cosmologies. Within the exhibition, the movement of water offers a fluid, anti-colonial approach to thinking and listening, while the processes of decay are understood as a poetics of metamorphosis and transformation.

At 10:00 pm, the Biennial opening will move to the nearby kanaal40 for a celebratory club night. Lineup and tickets can be found here.
