Paradiso and LAB111 invite you to a special screening of Nosferatu (1922), the iconic silent horror classic, brought to life with a mesmerizing live soundtrack by Wanderwelle. Their contemporary score clashes with the century-old silent classic, creating a tension that is both unsettling and invigorating. Expect a raw mix of eerie soundscapes, jagged melodies, and biting riffs—music as sharp and relentless as the fangs of the undead count himself. Writer Alma Mathijsen will present a literary introduction.
About Nosferatu: Eine Symphonie Des Grauens (1922)
Nosferatu: Eine Symphonie des Grauens (1922) follows Thomas Hutter, a real estate agent who travels to Transylvania to finalize a deal with the eerie Count Orlok, only to discover the vampire’s sinister intentions. Directed by F.W. Murnau, this silent-era masterpiece reimagines Bram Stoker’s Dracula with haunting visuals and an otherworldly atmosphere. Max Schreck’s portrayal of Orlok, with his gaunt frame and rat-like features, remains one of the most iconic and terrifying depictions of a vampire in cinema history. The film’s use of shadow and light, paired with its surreal, dreamlike sets, creates an atmosphere of creeping dread. As one of the earliest and most influential horror films, Nosferatu laid the foundation for the genre and continues to captivate audiences with its eerie brilliance.
This film will also be screened in LAB111 (without live score). Check out tickets and time slots in LAB111 here.
