Trompettist, bandleider en oprichter van Gondwana Records. De klank van deze artiest uit Manchester borduurt voort op Britse jazz en de spirituele jazz van Alice Coltrane en Pharaoh Sanders, gemixt met wereldmuziek en elektronische invloeden. Vorig jaar kwam zijn album (met nieuwe band) Salute to the Sun uit, misschien wel zijn mooiste en meest complete opname tot nu toe. Adem en kom tot rust door zijn prachtige aardse klank.

Alabaster DePlume
Alabaster DePlume is het alter-ego van de Britse multi-instrumentalist en Spoken Word-artiest Angus Fairbairn. DePlume is een telg van de beroemde culturele broedplaats Total Refreshment Center in Oost-Londen, waar ook bands als The Comet Is Coming en KOKOROKO hun oorsprong kennen, en speelt hiermee een belangrijke rol in de bruisende hedendaagse jazzscene van de stad. De klassiek geschoolde DePlume maakt naar eigen zeggen experimentele pop geïnspireerd door jazz, punk, indie en Aziatische muziek, gecombineerd met bijzondere Spoken Word-teksten. The Guardian schreef over een van zijn shows: “one of the most thrilling performances we have seen this year; a reminder of how vital and adventurous music can be”. Ongetwijfeld een must see dus, op Super-Sonic Jazz Festival 2021.

How to get to Paradiso

Paradiso is on the Weteringschans 6-8 in Amsterdam. That is very close to Leidseplein. From every part of the city there are trams heading towards Leidseplein. From there on out you can walk to Paradiso. Free and secured underground bike parking is available on the opposite side of Paradiso. Travelling by car is difficult, since there are only a few busy parking lots nearby.
