Het Engelse trio Mammal Hands uit Norwich bestaat uit saxofonist Jordan Smart, pianist Nick Smart en percussionist Jesse Barrett. Samen staan ze bekend om hun unieke samensmelting van jazz, hedendaagse klassieke muziek, electronica, folk en minimalisme. Hun muziek beweegt tussen subtiele melodieën en ritmische intensiteit, waarbij elke compositie zich langzaam ontvouwt tot iets meeslepends. Sinds de oprichting in 2012 bouwde Mammal Hands internationaal naam op met indrukwekkende liveoptredens in onder meer Japan, de Verenigde Staten en door heel Europa. De band bracht vijf albums uit op het label Gondwana Records van Matthew Halsall, waar ook acts zoals GoGo Penguin en Portico Quartet getekend zijn. Hun laatste album, ‘Gift from the Trees’, laat een frisse benadering van hun karakteristieke geluid horen.

How to get to Tolhuistuin

Tolhuistuin (formerly Paradiso Noord) is located at IJpromenade 2 in Amsterdam North. A free ferry is departing from Amsterdam Central Station to Buiksloterweg. Turn left and you’ll walk into Tolhuistuin. For club nights, the rear entrance is used (Buiksloterweg 5C), which can be reached via the Overhoeksplein.

Restaurant
Tolhuistuin also has a restaurant in which you can have a bite before the show. We advise to make a reservation in advance via this website.
