Singer-songwriter JP Cooper is een bijzondere verschijning. Met dreadlocks, baard en rastahoed verwacht je een zomers reggaegeluid uit zijn strot te horen komen, maar niets is minder waar. Nouja, behalve dat zomerse dan, want zijn neo-soul nummers voelen heerlijk zonnig en verfrissend aan. De man uit Manchester, die voluit John Paul Cooper heet, begon in 2012 met muziek schrijven en uitgeven. Hiervoor laat hij zich beïnvloeden door oude folk en soul. Zijn intieme, emotionele liedjes gaan over liefde, verlangen en verlies. JP is te horen op ‘Perfect Strangers’ van Jonas Blue, een nummer dat internationaal verschillende platina-statussen opleverde.
