Met zijn vlijmscherpe, satirische, politieke en vooral ook animerende gedichten die met een vlammende snelheid worden voorgedragen, maakt John Cooper Clarke als "punkdichter" in de late zeventiger jaren snel furore. John Cooper Clarke is een graag geziene gast op het podium. Hij wordt voor gastoptredens uitgenodigd door o.a. Sex Pistols, Joy Division, Buzzcocks, The Fall, Elvis Costello en New Order. Tussen 1978 en 1983 brengt John Cooper Clarke vijf albums en verschillende EP's en singles uit. De langverwachte autobiografie van JCC verscheen in 2020, genoemd maar zijn beroemdste gedicht 'I Wanna Be Yours'. Hierin vertelt hij tot in de kleinste details over zijn fascinerende leven in Manchester, de opkomst van punk en drugsverslavingen.

How to get to Zonnehuis

Zonnehuis is on Zonneplein 30a in Amsterdam North. Parking is free on Sunday and on other days after 7pm. The closest ferry to Zonnehuis is the NDSM-werf ferry. From there you can take a cab or bicycle, both getting you to the venue in about 10 minutes.
