Jesca Hoop is wat je noemt een muzikanten muzikant. De singer-songwriter werd geboren in California in een mormoons gezin, maar woont nu al een aantal jaar in Manchester. Hoop werd ontdekt door Tom Waits, waarna Peter Gabriel haar meenam op tour en ze zong in zijn band. Hierna volgde een telefoontje van Elbow's Guy Garvey dat ervoor zorgde dat ze de Californische zon verruilde voor Engeland. Hoop's meest recente album 'Stonechild' werd geproduceerd door John Parish (PJ Harvey, Aldous Harding, This is the Kit) en wordt geroemd door de gedetailleerde folk-invloeden en prachtige akoestische nummers.
