De Amerikaanse Jay Brannan klust bij als acteur, maar is het liefst op het podium te vinden met zijn gitaar. De flinke lijst albums die hij onder zijn eigen naam uitbracht zijn geproduceerd door zeer bekende producers, waaronder David Kahne (Regina Spektor, The Bangles, Paul McCartney) en Will Golden (Meiko, Michelle Branch). De muziek van de jonge Jay Brannan is te omschrijven als ingetogen indiefolk, zowel somber als opgewekt, waarbij hij allerlei alledaagse thema’s en gevoelens betrekt.
