De Ierse zanger en liedjessmid James Vincent McMorrow is terug van weggeweest. Drie jaar na zijn laatste album ‘True Care’ kwam McMorrow in 2020 met het album ‘Grapefruit Season’, waarvan hij in 2019 een voorproefje gaf tijdens een intiem concert in Paradiso Noord.

In het begin van zijn carrière speelt James Vincent McMorrow als drummer bij hardere rockbands, maar in de daaropvolgende jaren vindt hij zijn passie bij het maken van akoestische folkmuziek. Inspiratie haalt hij in die beginperiode van artiesten als Sufjan Stevens en Band of Horses. Zijn debuutalbum ‘Early In The Morning’ (2010) wordt een doorslaand succes en het is een cover van Steve Winwoods' ‘Higher Love’ die hem wereldwijd bekendheid oplevert. Dat McMorrow de tijd neemt voor zijn albums is een feit. In de jaren die volgen ontwikkelt hij zijn geluid verder en is te horen hoe hij zijn nummers uitbreidt met synthesizers en samples.

How to get to Paradiso

Paradiso is on the Weteringschans 6-8 in Amsterdam. That is very close to Leidseplein. From every part of the city there are trams heading towards Leidseplein. From there on out you can walk to Paradiso. Free and secured underground bike parking is available on the opposite side of Paradiso. Travelling by car is difficult, since there are only a few busy parking lots nearby.
