De in Engeland geboren Schot James Gillespie staat bekend om zijn bijzondere, doorleefde diepe stem. De singer-songwriter ging met zijn debuutsingle 'What You Do' meteen viral en heeft sindsdien een grote, internationale fanbase opgebouwd. Gillespie maakt op spitsvondige wijze gebruik van invloeden uit blues en soul en creëert hiermee emotievolle, meeslepende muziek. Hij ontwerpt daarnaast al zijn eigen artwork en coproduceert al zijn eigen muziek, samen met Andy Hall (bekend van zijn werk met Jack Garratt en Rag 'n Bone Man).Â
