Samen met artiesten als Gogol Bordello en Calexico verrijkt DeVotchKa vanaf begin jaren '00 de indiemuziek met een globaal tintje. De band uit Colorado startte als backingband van burlesqueshows, maar kwam in 2000 met hun eerste album 'Supermelodrama'. Met succes, want al snel toerde DeVotchKa met artiesten als 16 Horsepower, Flogging Molly en Archer Prewitt. De vier leden weten verschillende invloeden als spaghetti Western, cabaret, Oost-Europese dans, punk en norteño naadloos in elkaar te verweven. De soundtrack voor de film Little Miss Sunshine leverde DeVotchKa in 2006 een Grammy-nominatie op. Na vier succesvolle albums nam DeVotchKa in 2011 een pauze die tot 2018 duurde. Nu is de band terug met het zesde album 'This Night Falls Forever'.

How to get to Tolhuistuin

Tolhuistuin (formerly Paradiso Noord) is located at IJpromenade 2 in Amsterdam North. A free ferry runs from Amsterdam Central Station to Buiksloterweg. From there, turn left and you’ll walk straight into Tolhuistuin. For club nights, the rear entrance (Buiksloterweg 5C) is used. This entrance can be reached via Overhoeksplein

Restaurant
