De Deense dj & producer Najaaraq Vestbirk, beter bekend als Courtesy, staat in de clubscene te boek als dé dj die 90's trance weer relevant maakte. In haar sets breekt ze de vaak donkere en industriële clubsettings open door ruimte te geven aan de luchtigere en zwevende melodieën waar trance bekend om staat.

Op 25 maart 2022 verschijnt Courtesy's debuut EP Night Journeys op haar eigen multidisciplinaire label Kulør. De plaat werd geboren in het holst van de nacht: toen Courtesy tijdens de allereerste lockdown last had van slapeloosheid, produceerde ze melodieën op haar synthesizer om zichzelf weer in slaap te krijgen. De titel van de EP is vernoemd naar een serie schilderijen van Lee Kresner, ook in de nacht ontstaan.

Dit voorjaar debuteert Courtesy met haar eerste liveshows. Verwacht intieme ambient trance, gemaakt voor de club: de Night Journeys tour start in de befaamde Berlijnse club Berghain en doet op 11 mei Tolhuistuin aan.

How to get to Parallel

Parallel is located at Buiksloterweg 5C in Amsterdam North, at the rear end of the Tolhuistuin building. To get there, catch one of the free ferries departing from Amsterdam Central Station to Buiksloterweg. Upon crossing the IJ river, take an immediate left and cross the Volewijck bridge. Turn right and continue walking until you reach Overhoeksplein. Here, you will find the Galgenveld bridge to your right. Crossing it, you will find the Tolhuistuin archway and Parallel’s entrance.
